I looked through some of my stock, and this simple item caught my eye. Scott 21 (ACSC 71 or 72 .. Smooth versus Rough paper). It looks more smooth to me. Compartment line on right top. The interest is in the earlobe where I see a small gash. It could be the paper was just damaged in the mail, though. Not listed in ACSC, but posted for comments.

And a through scan to see if the watermark could be interfering ... which it looks like the A has some potential to be a problem.

It took me a little longer to see this one. Scott OB19, ACSC 63(1)h OS. This has a "white dash in left side of right value tablet". The cancellation almost hid it. (Can anyone see the year?)

I picked up a few items on Stamps2Go. These are all subtle varieties of King George V.

Scott 22, ACSC 76(4)vb. This is known as "Run in N of ONE - third state".

This one is Scott 23, ACSC 77(4)d, the "Secret Mark", which is circled. What is interesting is the other marks (that aren't scrapes), that appear in a sort of semi-circle. Perhaps just a dry print with some flaking?

Lastly, this one is an official stamp, Scott OB72a, ACSC 108l. This is "Left value shield broken at left".

Some nice finds, if you know what you are looking for.

Here's an AirMail Exhibition cover with exhibition stamps from October 5, 1937. I like the selvage. I've never seen these exhibition stamps before, so two on the same cover was a nice find.

A recent purchase is Scott 4, ACSC 9(2)d, which is described as "Heavy Coastline to WA". This one stands out pretty well.

Thanks Rod. These aren't oddities, but I thought to post them with my other Australian items. For some reason, I decided to pick up some post cards and a heavily damaged cover. Why? Just because.

The first one actually has some value (at least by the ACSC volumes). This is P58, the one penny on 1 1/2d King George V sideface from February 1924.

Next, I accidentally bought a pair of P27, the 1d King George V Sideface from May, 1915. Both are Die 1, and both had the same odd scratch above the EN of PENNEY.

Lastly, I bought a letter which was loaded with "character". Nothing special with the stamps, but I liked the markings. Plus the price was right.

This was a nice find in an APS Circuit Book. It has a rounded lower left corner, which probably discouraged other lookers. Scott 2d (Die II), which is also known as ACSC 3. This is the "Extra Island (two Tasmanias), which is specifically ACSC 3(E)d. I especially like this stamp as it does not take much effort to see the island.

The page from my ACSC, though, shows a "progression" from 3(E)d to 3(E)da which has the additional break in the bottom frame. Mine seems to be somewhere in-between the two.

This one is not an oddity, but I thought to post it here. A cover from March 31, 1941 from Mungallala, Queensland. I like the "Not opened by Censor" hand stamp. (Why would they stamp it that it was NOT opened??)

The reverse is also nice. A Red Cross stamp that I have not seen before. Does anyone know if it has any value or interest?

Lady Gowrie 2nd from Left
To her left, John Curtin, Prime minister?

Seen : Label on ebay $5
Label on cover with Netherlands discount postage £55

Well, this is one I don't know much about, except that Lady Gowrie served as President of the Australian Red Cross, and she was very active in making appeals to the people to help out during the war. I know there are some Cinderellas out there with similiar appeals on them. Thanks for
posting a great stamp! An encounter with Lady Gowrie, the wife of the then Governor of New South Wales, Lord Gowrie, made the young Joan Hood's dreams of studying in Europe possible. Joan often referred to Lady
Gowrie as her "guardian angel". Hood's fellow golfers in New South Wales raised enough money for her to leave Australia in 1936 to study

Lady Gowrie
Author : Mr. Blair Stannard (Canada) 2009 (My mentor)

Here is Lady Gowrie herself (2nd from left).
Lord Gowrie is second from right.
http://john.curtin.edu.au/macarthur...00376_73.jpg

... and here is an ironic twist for Rodney.

"Gowrie (Scottish Gaelic: Gobharaidh) is a region and
ancient province of Scotland, covering most of the eastern
part of what became Perthshire. The province is the home
of such ancient Scottish royal sites as Scone and perhaps
Forteviot.

Its chief settlement is the town of Perth. Today it is most
often associated with the Carse of Gowrie, the part of
Gowrie south of the Sidlaw Hills running east of Perth
to Dundee.
