It's Osaka. Read here from right to left.

Bonus answer not asked for: the year date is Meiji 38; in the West that's 1905.

English gives me enough problems as it is!

Certain things pop up, over and over, and they've stuck, like the Osaka and Shanxi characters. Trivia I can remember; it's the important things I forget.

I've accumulated some reference books (to find the Hongtong characters) and dictionaries and there's always Google Translate.

Philately and curiosity have inspired me to get a bare-bones basic knowledge of languages.
