Just curious about these stamps. Organizing my pile of Guatemala stamps I noticed that these two particular stamps had diagonal perfs running lower left to upper right.

I'm thinking this is some sort of perfin??

Hello. No, they're actual postal issues, with the perforated halves being valid for 1c-worth of postage. Issued on 16 August 1941, twelve years after the unperforated issue. Ideally, bisects are collected on cover or piece to show their legitimacy, although that doesn't arise with a low-CV stamp such as this.

Interesting. So, they actually perforated these stamps to split the value of the whole stamp. Are the bisected stamps rather common?

Thanks. Now I need to find a cover sporting a bisected stamp!

The hunt begins!
