Asking price is more than one hundred times that of a similar item.

To quote the introduction to the stamped envelopes and wrappers section in the Scott Specialized catalog:

Quote:
Because of the nature of the printing process, many albinos were produced, and most collectors will not pay much, or any, premium for most of them.

Clueless? No. At least some percentage of the sellers shown in your periodic posts of this type must know exactly what they are doing, and I expect this is one. They are like the senders of the "Nigerian prince" email scam; the more outrageous the offer the better, to weed out anyone other than the truly dumb and gullible, who will pay and never question anything, and likely never pursue recourse.

I don't entirely disagree, but I tend to lean towards "maybe needs a little education" rather than "trying to take advantage of the unwise," just to be a little neutral about it.

Not that I have an agenda or anything, but by posting these items with outrageous prices and calling attention to them, if a single collector is prevented from buying a single, overpriced stamp, then it was worth the effort.

I have a whole box of blank envelopes, perhaps I should be selling them on e-bay for $3,500 each. Heck, I'll even offer free shipping.

This seller has found a particular niche in that he/she pretty much only offers seriously defective stamps.

An interesting business model, to be sure.

Take a look, if you have a strong stomach.
