You cannot 'remove' an existing account. The forum is a database and referential integrity prevents us from removing accounts. We can lock accounts which means that you simply cannot post anymore.
If you want your account locked simply let ME (or Kirk) know (not the Admin).

Don: Please do block me moving forward!

I wish ebay shared your "database and referential integrity" ethics.

Thanks for all your help and see you on StampSmarter for a much less heated and way more collegial discussion!

I think it is clear you share my disappointment in the industry lack of action on this "right-in-your-face" "rare" stamp fraud.

For now the industry can have a tag line:

"The beatings will continue until the morale improves"

PLEASE EXCUSE ANY TYPOS

Wow - I was really busy for a couple days and this thread went even more sideways. Moral of this story is "Caveat Emptor" or for those that don't get Latin - don't ever buy from Anthonys ! EVER !!

Wow

I agree, this whole discussion was like watching a simmering pot of water getting hotter and hotter until it blew up.

After reading all of this, here is my take-away:

1) Anthony's sells a bunch of junk, but sometimes not. So be careful.

2) ebay is only a venue and they have to make money to survive. They don't police each and every item that gets listed on their site, so be careful.

3) The whole story of these transactions was not fully stated by the original poster. For example, only later was it mentioned that a refund was made but the stamps were not returned to the seller.

4) A lot of intelligent, concerned collectors are very passionate about their beliefs, one way or the other. But much of the suggestions were essentially "preaching to the choir." Pretty much everyone here already doesn't do much (or any) business with Anthony's.

I will need to put this .org into the same bucket as ebay, ASDA, BBB...all talk but no backbone

I have no idea what this poster was actually expecting, here or otherwise? Are stamp collectors supposed to band together and lynch the guy or something?

Jim

I believe that the op was actually expecting ebay to not remove the negative feedback that he left and the ASDA to actually give a hoot along with the BBB. He found out the hard way that Anthony's and Philip Ryle and all of the other assets to philately are not going away and those organizations along with ebay are just fat and fine with that. Tough choir to preach to here. Cartel threads have posts such as "nothing criminal there", "I find it humorous", " good buys to be had". Others actually think that finding misidentified in the collectors favor stamps at Anthony's hurts Anthony's and makes up I assume for all of their egregious behavior because "the joke is on Anthony's". Things will remain status quo for sure. You cannot save people from themselves and everyone has their own agenda as seller, buyer, onlooker etc.. My parting opinion is that you cannot have it both ways. If you know about Anthony's, the Cartel and others and choose to deal with them you are hurting the hobby no matter how you try and rationalize it.

Well, one more thing. A few folks are making much of the op not returning the stamps as of yet. I guess it would be good for Anthony's to have the material back either to relist it for another buyer enjoy the same experience or to have what is the evidence of selling fakes and misrepresented material back safely in has hands so that it becomes more of a he said-she said thing should the op decide to pursue civil/criminal action.

Nobody has made mention of the postally used 356 coils that Anthony's sells to the tune of about one a month. In a years time, they have sold more used copies of this rarity than PF and Siegels have in their census combined.... here's the bottom line; we all obviously know what kind of people we are dealing with here, and Anthony's, although certainly not alone, may be the worst of the worst. Yes, an educated buyer is the best defense against a fraudulent seller, but that in no way justifies Anthony's actions. We alll started somewhere, and more than likely learned some of the ropes the hard way. Sellers like Anthony's will ultimately dissuade new collectors from ever furthering their interests in our hobby. And for that reason, IMHO, we all must remain vigilant against this type of activity. A few legitimate transactions does not forgive Anthony's extensive history of fraud.
