I hope someone here can help me with the value of this cover. I recently acquired the White Plains sheet, (finally!) and my friend discovered this cover. While the show opened Sat. Oct. 16 the sheets and individual stamps did not go sale until Mon. Oct 18. Note the cancel of the 16th on this cover. Linn's states that someone "forgot" to advance the date on Monday and a limited amount of covers were canceled and sold. I do not collect covers and my friend only collects BNA postal history I would like to purchase this cover and put it with my sheet but I don't know how much to pay him. I looked on e-bay and a few other sites but can't find any thing close. any help would be appreciated.

According to the Scott catalog, the postal stationary was released on July 27th, so it would not be unusual for it to be used for the opening date of the exposition.

Since the stamp is not tied by the machine cancel, it could have been added later on. In that sense, I would not consider it unusual.

Maybe I put this in the wrong thread. I know all about the cover. It is a Scott #U155 and yes it is not worth more than a dollar as such. The White Plains stamp could of been put on yesterday. The Cinderalla is worth about a quarter, Canadian! I`m talking about the Cancel.

I agree that the stamp has nothing to do with the cover in terms of it being applied on the 26th. It appears to not even be postmarked from what I can see and instead has a scribble on it so I would expect that it was added at some later point from anytime between when the stamps were released to yesterday. Also, the Cinderella is not tied in any way so it too could have been applied anytime from whenever it was released at the show to yesterday. The value of this cover is it being a used Scott #U155 with a show cancel from the first day of the show. Value could be anywhere from a low of maybe 50 cents to a high perhaps $3 if you can find just the right buyer which may not be easy to do.

Thanks for all the info, my buddy and I have decided it`s worth a case of beer which I will help consume. I`ll put the cover next to my sheet. It looks really cool!

I think it is attractive with all three focal points in matching red with the cancel and address in black.
