Here is a Scott 41 cancelled March 28th, 1896. It was cancelled at a post office designated "Spencer Creek" in Ontario..Spencer creek is in the town area of "Dundas" Ontario.
Anyone have any info on this old post office...? I have never seem a cancel from Spencer Creek.
Kirk..Peter. I see what you mean..But Spencer Creek and Spencer Ravine are basically the same area of Dundas..But, I still have never come across a cancel from this location and was wondering whether or not some one has some detailed information.
22crows..I think you got it..But still in the Dundas area.. Still cant get an address or picture of the post office and still the only one I came across.
According to Robert Smith's book, Spencerville was opened in Edwardsburg Township on 1841 (day/month unknown) and, apparently re-opened April 6, 1845 and is still open to this day. He also states that he is not sure if the date is correct. He does not have a listing for Spencer Creek or Spencer Ravine in the Dundas area. Hope this helps?
