Here is a Scott 41 cancelled March 28th, 1896.
It was cancelled at a post office designated "Spencer Creek" in Ontario..Spencer creek is in the town area of "Dundas" Ontario.

Anyone have any info on this old post office...?
I have never seem a cancel from Spencer Creek.

Robert

Robert, is there another possibility? The last letter of the towns' name is an E, not a K.

I am confused why you suspect 'CREEK'

Kirk..Peter.
I see what you mean..But Spencer Creek and Spencer Ravine are basically the same area of Dundas..But, I still have never come across a cancel from this location and was wondering whether or not some one has some detailed information.

Spencerville Ontario seems more likely.

Hi All

According to Robert Smith's book, Spencerville was opened in Edwardsburg Township on 1841 (day/month unknown) and, apparently re-opened April 6, 1845 and is still open to this day. He also states that he is not sure if the date is correct. He does not have a listing for Spencer Creek or Spencer Ravine in the Dundas area.
Hope this helps?

My old Campbell's Directory says SPENCERVILLE (Grenville-O) 1841/on--00444

There is also a listing for Spencer Cove but that is in Quebec.

Here is a screen grab from Google Maps of the Spencerville PO. I just looked up the address on Canada Post and pasted that into Google Maps.
