That link appears to be dead. Any members aware of a catalogue that list these stamps? I have some numbers of stamps in my collection, unaware of their accuracy. |

Where does one place SMOM pages in an album: under "S" for Sovereign, with Italy, with Vatican City, with Malta?
Thanks, Robert |

Top stuff, Postmaster, Appreciation. I'll also use mounted on Steiner Pages, he must have had advice on some sequencing. Quote: Where does one place SMOM pages in an album: under "S" for Sovereign, with Italy, with Vatican City, with Malta?
Hi Robert, personally, I like my stamps placed Geographically, hence I have my SMOM B.o.b (Back of book) behind my Malta Collection. Makes it easy (to my mind) to find, and categorise. Africa, and its vast collecting spectrum, is particularly useful, to this, and helps one to recall where a country lies in the broader scheme of things. Others may have different ideas. |

Those are really hansom stamps. I've been thinking about collecting Vatican City lately and could see adding these too. |

Not really an entity that I take very seriously. But I do have my single set of SMOM behind a tab on the last page of my albums. And an editorial on what SMOM is all about. About as relevant as Middle Earth and Narnia. I cant imagine that the three residents send many Birthday, Christmas, Mothers Day, Valentine cards etc in a year so I don't think they need all the stamps they produce. |

I have recently been reading up on the history of the Hospitallers and was surprised to learn that they issue stamps (328 sets). Are they widely collected? I am unable to find them listed in Scott under Hospitallers, SMOM, Sovrano Militare Ordine Di Malta, or Knights of Malta. Is there a reliable catalog for these?
I have read that although they control no territory, they issues passports, have 3 citizens ( of a country controlling no territory?), and am not sure of this but heard they have their own license plates? I don't know how much of this is true. Any info would be appreciated. |

Hi Dry Tech, I don't know of any regular catalogues for SMOM stamps but they have their own detailed online catalogue: http://www.orderofmalta.int/stamps/This provides lots of details. The front page shows the latest issues and you can click on "READ ALL" for more information for each issue. At the bottom of the page you can look up all their issues by year. In terms of territory, SMOM owns two buildings in Rome, the Magistral Palace and the Magistral Villa, which have extraterritorial status similar to foreign embassies. As well as their own website, there's a lot more about them here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sover...der_of_Malta |

Thanks for taking the time to reply to my post.
Friendly warning re Wikipedia: for fun look up Wikipedia on Wikipedia. The 4th paragraph from the top may be of interest.
