Dear all,
I have in my collection a 10c Sower stamp of France in a strange colour. It's yellow/orange. But according to the catalogue, only the colurs green, red en blue are used.
Can anyone of you give me a clue? Maybe a discolourisation of red?
Thanks and have a nice day.

Hi Erik, and welcome to the forum. Hope all is well in Ede - I was born in Driebergen-Rijsenburg during WWII.
I believe that you have a changeling there, but it is very hard to see. Is there any way you can scan this again, but on a black background and post a larger picture.

Peter

I would double check Y&T or Michel to see if that shade is listed.

hi; In the link below there were color trials before the final printings. Was your stamp a privatly perfed example? The light orange shade in your stamp is quiet unusual. Will have to look into this .....

(It does not fit into any of the counterfeit stamps of the time)

Hereby the scan of the backside. Perforation: 14 x 13½.

I have acquired the stamp in a collection I bought earlier this year. So the history of the stamp is unknown to me.

Believe Peter and Derwins when they say the stamp is just faded/a changeling. It's not uncommon as you will find as you buy more lots and collections.

I've known professional chemist collectors who will not buy known color errors as they figure any color can be changed chemically.

Agree with Derwins on this likely being a changeling red-orange Y&T 138b.

This looks like type ""D'' paper. The lozenge shapes are visible in this adjusted photo I did of your stamp. It was an early paper from 1900.The stamp seems a type IA,but the photo of your stamp must be sharper
in order to study this stamp in detail
