Hello All

Having read a few threads, and as I was unable to find them in the Scott book, I assume that they are revenues of little value. But I would still like to catalogue them with their proper Scott number if possible. So if someone has a Scott number on them I would appreciate it.

Thanks
HTx

Sorry, Scott does not list revenues unless they (legally) did double duty as postage stamps.

These are listed in the "Mexico's Revenue Stamps" catalog published by MEPSI in 2011, a major update/overhaul of the Stevens catalog. This catalog can be purchased form Eric Jackson.

It's a must-have for anyone collecting Mexico revenue stamps.

The 1-cent is catalog #CF138, value $0.20 without talon, and the 5-cemt is catalog #CF139, value $0.25 without talon.

@ hy-brasil
@ revenuecollector

Thank-you both for the reply's
Now I know why they were not listed on Stamp World.

The term 'talon' is not listed in the Scott book definitions section. What is meant by "talon" ?

Stamps that come in 2 parts.
Part A is the Talon, Part B is the Guia

Sometimes the stamp designs extends from stamp to talon.

Sometime the talon had a different but related design printed sideways in relation to the stamp design.

Unused Mexican revenue stamps should be collected with the talon still attached.

The talons of used Mexican revenues were usually detached at the time of use. Normally, the stamp was attached to the document, while the talon was attached to a receipt or record book.

Predictably, used stamps with talons still attached are more valuable than those without talons.

Mexican revenue stamps are listed in the Revenue Stamps of Mexico by Richard Byron Stevens.
