Mount Taranaki is an active but quiescent stratovolcano in the Taranaki region on the west coast of North Island. The 2518-meter-high mountain is one of the most symmetrical volcanic cones in the world.

Mont Aiguille (2,085 m) is a mountain in the Vercors Plateau of the French Prealps in the Departement of Isère. The mountain is a relatively flat limestone mesa surrounded by steep cliffs. Its cliffs, especially on the northwest side, are popular with climbers. Its first climb in 1492 was said to mark the birth of mountaineering.

The souvenir sheet shows Matter Valley with the Matterhorn in the stamp.
The Matterhorn is a mountain of the Alps, straddling the main watershed and border between Switzerland and Italy. It is a huge and near-symmetrical pyramidal peak whose summit is 4,478 meters high, making it one of the highest summits in the Alps and Europe.

Here is an image of a stamp depicting Monte Viso, aka Monviso (which at 3,841 m (12,602 ft) is the highest mountain in the Cottian Alps), a climber's ax and rope, and the emblem of the Italian Alpine Club, printed by photogravure, and issued by Italy on March 30, 1963 to commemorate the centenary of the club's founding, Scott No. 873, plus an image of a photo of Monte Viso.

Here is an image of a stamp depicting a scenic mountain view, and the emblem of the Catalunya Excursion Center, printed by photogravure, and issued by Spain on February 10, 1976 to commemorate the center's centenary, Scott No. 1932.

Here is an image of a stamp depicting a view of Amba Alagi (aka Alaguie), a mountain in northern Ethiopia, sloping east, and a portrait (inset) of Emperor Haile Selassie I (1892-1975), engraved and printed by Bradbury, Wilkinson & Co., Ltd., and issued by Ethiopia on August 23, 1947, Scott No. 285, plus an image of a photograph of Amba Alagi. Historical note: On December 7, 1895, Ethiopian forces defeated an Italian army in the Battle of Amba Alagi during the First Italo-Ethiopian War (1895-1896).

Golica (1835 m) is a peak in the Western Karawanks, on the border between Slovenia and Austria, above the Slovene town of Jesenice. It is known mainly for its fields of wild white narcissi in late April and early May.

Set of two stamps, one shows the Lonquimay Volcano, a stratovolcano of late-Pleistocene to Holocene age. Its last eruption began on December 25, 1988 and lasted for 13 months.
