The Penyal d'Ifac (Peńon de Ifach) is a massive limestone outcrop emerging from the Mediterranean Sea, rising to 332 meters, linked to the shore by rock debris, and located in Alicante province, Spain. Historically, the Penyal d'Ifac was known to the Phoenicians as the Northern Rock, to distinguish it from its southern counterpart, the Rock of Gibraltar. Here is an image of a stamp depicting the Penyal d'Ifac, engraved by Juan Carlos Heras Vicario (1961- ), and issued by Spain on June 10, 1967 as one of four stamps in a tourism set, Scott No. 2515A, Edifil No. 2900, plus a photo.

Costa Rica's computer-vended stamp of April 2005 depicts the active volcano Irazu'. 2.8728 million of the unvalued labels were produced, and they were sold from April to November of 2005.

Interestingly, this label was vended and used on the 9th of February, 2006. So it appears that Michel Automatenmarken-Spezial catalog is in error here.

Locally, Irazu' is known as "El Coloso" (the colossus) because of the colossal damage it has done throughout the last 300 years. It has erupted 23 times since 1723. At 11,260 feet, Irazu' is the highest volcano in Costa Rica.

The yellow green area in the crater is a lake, and not sulphur as I supposed.
