As unbelievable is it is, the Lotus forums are still quite active. I'm sure someone over there can hook you up: http://www-10.lotus.com/ldd/ssforum.nsf

As far as Wordperfect, I was at Officemax today and they had the full version of Corel Office Suite for $49.95.

I still suggest biting the bullet and leaving Lotus behind once you convert off. Running it in a secure environment in the future will become a hobby in itself.

Wordperfect still has some life in it since it still has some marketshare in Canada and in the legal industry.

I agree that once you convert the file to excel, there is no need to go back to 123. Libre Office may suite all your needs.

I run Win 7 and use Lotus 123 and Word Pro only for converting older files to later. When it launches, it makes graphic changes (disables Aero, etc).

I don't think that we have OfficeMax in Canada, but I'll soon find out and also check similar retailers here. Thanks to both of you.

A little history behind Openoffice/Libreoffice.

After Oracle bought Sun, OpenOffice kind of lingered, and the open source developers that worked on it got very frustrated. They all pretty much packed up and left and started Libreoffice. The first couple of releases of Liberoffice were backported to Openoffice, but eventually the few remaining developers that were working on Openoffice just gave up. It was turned over to the Apache Foundation, which maintained it for a little while, and now it's pretty much abandonware.

If you're running Openoffice, it behooves you to upgrade to Libreoffice, so you're on the version that is actually getting. The current version of Openoffice (4.1.3) has known security vulnerabilities that have not been fixed.

I couldn't agree more about using LibreOffice instead of OpenOffice.

Having SUN run it was one thing, Oracle is much worse. They continue to "buy" up open source projects so they can commercialize them through transition to their own commercial products or through costly paid support. They go completely against open source philosophy.

I've used OpenOffice, then LibreOffice for many years. First on Linux and now on MacOS. It fulfills the needs of 99% of home users, great software. Very stable, new features added all the time and most importantly backwards file compatibility more or less forever.

LibreOffice is a very good place to catalog your stamps and not fall into the trap of proprietary dead software that this thread is all about.
