Is this a single line watermark or a double line watermark?
My understanding is that this issue is normally watermarked, so if I find any watermark in the stamp it is the error stamp.

This issue is not normally watermarked.
Need to see scan(s) of the stamp in question! To include front and back of the stamp in question, along with scan of the watermark.
Is this a single stamp or is it on an instrument/letter/package?

Here is a cropped/reversed portion of a Special Tax Stamp showing the double line pattern. This was used on many revenue items into the 1950s, if not beyond.  |

Is the special tax stamp paying a 25 cent tax for 3 months? If so, nice usage. |

Yes, the STS stamp is a partial year with clipped-off months at top, but for this purpose it showed the watermark nicely. I cropped it strongly to avoid a tangential distraction. |
