Greetings from sunny California! I recently inherited my fathers stamp collection. I am a little overwhelmed by the sheer volume of that he had. It is a huge collection of stamps from all over the world dating back to the 1800's. Some of it is very organized in volumes of binders and books and other parts of it are in boxes and loose in plastic storage containers. I've been trying to familiarize myself somewhat with what he has here, but honestly I don't know the first thing about stamp collecting.

What is the best way to figure out the value of the collection? Is there an organization that I should begin with or a reputable company that does appraisals of stamps? Any guidance is much appreciated! Thank you!

It may depend on whether you want to continue the collection you inherited, or you want to dispose of it. If you want to dispose of it, I would recommend consign to a reputable stamp auction company, and we can help you with either road you wish to follow.
