After several years it is time to round out my us airmail stamps. Searching for the right C3 has been time consuming as prices go all over the place.

So a few questions or advice.

I want a MNH. Centering has to be fair I know this is subjective. I don't need it to be perfect. I don't want the boarder to go into the stamp or one extremely off center.

What would be a fair price?

Where would you buy? ebay, dealer web site, ASP web site sales area?

I guess I'm looking for some advice and some ideas for the best stamp under $100.

Why not go to the sources mentioned and do comparison shopping? We don't know what's acceptable to you for condition and pricing, nor what you expect for centering vs. pricing.

If you don't know what NH gum or reperfing looks like, ebay is not for you, unless you want something with a certificate. Actually, it could be a problem for buying anywhere. You'll likely get stronger guarantees elsewhere, but they are not bulletproof.

To buy an MNH stamp of any era or value, I would want to see the stamp and make my own determination of authenticity - or have a good recent certificate. This means that buying MNH online is almost an impossibility. Needless to say, I do not buy many MNH stamps.

Hi All

I could care less for the current craze of MNH. Well maybe for 40 years now, so maybe its not the so current for most.

+1 with stamp master, MLH or lightly used I believe is ok, so you can see the stamp, but I am finding out covers are a great way to tie a stamp to a date or era, it gives a bit more depth to the hobby, but that's my opinion, and everyone's is different, and we all respect that!

I was shown a beautiful C3 at the APS show - $75 and it was darn good. A MLH though but it didn't matter.

But by then, I had already spent my budget down to the sock money !

I believe that your $100 budget is well enough to buy a VF MNH C3 unless you are looking for XF grading or PSE graded stamp (>95). For a F-VF grading, you are looking for much cheaper. In my opinion, I don't think you really need a cert since there are not very many high quality counterfeits for this stamp out there. And for a stamp in such price range, it does not make much sense to spend the money on a certificate.

Thank you for the last three very helpful posts. Disi123 thanks for posting the stamp and it would be in on the bottom range of my scale. You have all given me a nice expectation of the current market price for the C3.

Well if took a month but I found one today and just placed my order. I found it on the APS web store. When I get it I will post it. I'm happy and it is the most I paid for a single stamp. $57

And I wonder why I have a problem filling up my classics. LOL
