First time using this forum hopefully some one out there can shed some light

what are these stamps ?? they say Confederate states some are on sheets some are blocks
these were part of an estate sale , removed from a lock box , indicating they could have some value ?
there is a large block of 100 Green or blue Two Cent Stamps
there are no perforations blank on back ?? paper is old looking no glue on the back
there are two Blocks of 9 Black Ten Cents centered in a sheet
but whats weird is it has the same image of the nine stamps on the other side , once again the paper appears to be quite old in fact the edges are frayed like hand woven ??
would appreciate any help as to what they are ? are they real and do they have any value ?? as I have no use for them
thanks

Hi, your image appears to be either reprints or fakes.

Perhaps if you could provide better scans, enlarged, showing both front and reverse sides.

There are very simple steps listed in this thread:

https://goscf.com/t/54663#476895

Just be sure to crop the image down to about the right size before starting to optimize it. You can always crop more off later, to show just the area that you want to show. Good luck.

This is a confederate two cents Calhoun postage stamp. From the photo you posted you can not say if they are original or reprints. They could even by reprints made in 1926 by Dietz using the original plates. Very interesting and certainly worth reviewing in more detail.

Ok it has been some time since I got into confederate stamps. I had to check. They are not original.

There is a long story that I will shorten. The postage rate went to two cents. The plates wee made in England and made it through the blockaid but they never printed any stamps.

The plates survived and this may be a Dietz 1926 reprints.

There is more go the story but I think this gives you enough to start your research.

What they did was combine the Calhoun plate with the two cents from another plate.

Thanks for update go your photo with the black stamps. These are called private profs made from the altered plate. These are not true issued confederate stamps. Years ago they were sold as investments. It never worked out. In any event these are all reprints from a plate that was never used to make official confederate stamps. At least they could be if not then just another type of copy made by some one over the past t0 or 60 years.
