Oldest So Far...pair Of Scott #248

Hi All-
I have looked at about 100 specimens from my inherited collection and this seems to be the oldest of the lot so far. I have attached a photo of the front and back and would welcome any comments.
It looks to me to be a good specimen in terms of centering, a shame about the spot on the bottom stamp, appears to be visible on the back as well (but I don't think it comes thru on the picture of the back)
I don't expect to come across much more of this vintage, the collection seems to be more centered on post WWII era with a smaller cluster of early 20th century.

Hi, what color do you think it is?

To my eye, it appears salmon in color. Looking at the photo in the post vs the actual stamp, the stamp may not be quite as dark, but otherwise the hue seems reasonably accurate to me. I went with #248 after seeing similar stamps ID'd on various websites, but of course I'm just a getting started with stamps so I probably should have been a bit more qualified with my statement. Thanks for looking at my post!

The image is too small to see any detail, but if the color is what's stated, and not altered by human or light influence, then the likelihood
would be 267c or 279Bd, as opposed to 248
