Dear Stamp Community Family

I don't know if my Michel catalog is not detailed enough for these three postage dues from Peru.

First one is postage due No. 1 with the red overprint (Lima Correos), so it should be postage due No. 12, but the black overprint (Correos Lima with the sun) is not mentioned for postage dues. Also the second one, Postage due No. 3, is not mentioned with the black overprint. The third one (Postage due No. 5) with the red overprint (Lima Correos) makes it to Postage due No. 11, but also here the black overprint is not mentioned.
As far as I know, the black overprint with the sun was only used for an emergency issue for Lima in 1884.
Does anyone knows more?

Thanks in advance.

Best regards from Switzerland.

André

SG only lists one 5c blue stamp with this CORREOS LIMA overprint, SG 277.

It has a note that other stamps with this overprint were not put into use.

Similarly from the Worldstamphistory site:

Peruvian government, local issue Lima: In 1884 stamps were issued for local use in Lima and Callao – the 5 centavo denomination of the 1874-1879 issue overprinted with a sun and 'Correos Lima'. Scott notes that identical overprints on other issues exist but were only sold to collectors.

Dear perf12, dear nigelc, dear 22crows

Thanks a lot for your quick replies. In Michel there is no note that these overprints were made for collectors.

Best regards from Switzerland
