528 Interesting Example

Hi all

Many, oh so many years ago, I found the stamp in question in a dealers stock book. Bought it, then later while talking with Larry S. Weiss, mentioned this stamp. So I donated it to the BIA Washington Franklin Head Issues Committee.

Wondering if any members have seen this stamp, and where did they see it.

I bought the stamp because it was dirt cheap, but did not have any real interest in it.

What do our members think about this stamp? Would like to hear your opinions, both positive and negative?

The plate number matches Scott 528 and one of the last plates for this long run (548 plates according to Durland). The selvage looks to have been miscut which resulted in the partial plate number at the very top.
