Just curious if there are any Antarctic stamps? I know that that there are Australian Antarctic Territory stamp(s).

I have a small collection that spans 6 of 7 continents. It would be sort of neat to have stamps representing all 7.

Thanks.

There are no independent countries in Antarctica. The Australian Antarctic Territory stamps, the Ross Dependency stamps (NZ) and the Terres Australes et Antarctiques Francaises (France) would all be representative of Antarctica.

Thanks 22crows.

I Googled Antarctic Stamps and found that there are lots of stamps that mention the antarctic as either projects or expeditions.

Are there any other antarctic territories other than Australia, NZ and France?

Just answered my own question. Seems that there are 7 territorial claims of Antarctica according to the Antarctic Treaty:
Argentina.
Australia.
Chile.
France.
New Zealand.
Norway.
United Kingdom.

Moyock13 - I've never really thought about this as there are no countries down there... So I'm just spit-balling... To round out your 7 continent collection perhaps you could cover that by one Antarctica canceled cover from each of the countries that maintain a claim/outpost there?

@Moyock13: Boy Howdy!

There are INDEED Antarctic Stamps! SEARCH the forum and you'll find lots.

There's also a topical thread on POLAR PHILATELY that included both North/South Poles.

I collect British Antarctic Territory (BAT)

I'm also interested in Admiral Byrd's Expedition
https://goscf.com/t/11037&SearchTerms=Antarctic,

There are also threads on Australian Antarctic Territory (AAT).

I agree with Kirk.."Polar" searches would be advantageous,

Another thing would be to try to collect stamps or covers with Antarctic cancels. McMurdo station and Amunsen-Scott at the south pole both have US post offices and covers cancelled there can be collected. You could probably even send yourself one if you sent the postmaster there a self-addressed stamped envelope with the appropriate postage. Their addresses can be seen at the following link:
