Sadly, don't be surprised to see this stamp re-perfed at left and the centering vastly "improved" when it reappears on the market.

There is absolutely no way the stamp is worth what it was bid up to. It was bid up by two buyers.

If the seller gets paid, that will be a miracle. Note that they clearly indicate a CV of $65. Market value is maybe $15 - $20.

Even with perf tampering and a VF centering, it will not be worth anywhere near what was paid (assuming the perf tampering was not detected).

I bet a...a entered his bid and skipped the decimal point, wanting only to bid $6.95.
The other bidder is a malignant nasty who drove up the price on purpose - a very dangerous activity inasmuch as he could get caught with it.
I don't think he's a shill because his history shows low activity with NYStamps.
a...a could have cancelled his bid - but perhaps he didn't notice.

As an occasional seller I hate when two buyers get into a silly bidding war. You know you're not going to keep the money - even if the unhappy buyer pays, the stamp is inevitably returned.

As a proactive measure I contact the buyer and offer to cancel the sale; maybe they will buy at a later date.

I recall one buyer who would constantly put huge bids on my modest items, then retract once he found out the high bid. It was irritating, but I tolerated it with a smile and he bought stamps for a long time.

I agree with sak. Simplest explanation for the facts at hand.

I agree with Shermae!

I also think he'll return the stamp.

Say I entered a bid of $100 yesterday but the highest bid has been only $25.00, it would show me as the high bidder at 25.00. But you come in today and put $95. I am pretty sure that the system does NOT just jump to $96... instead it shows every incremental bids ($1 increment) a few seconds apart.

Nope,it jumps to $96.

It is a very ordinary stamp and no matter what any one tries to do with it, it will remain so. Wouldn't pay a cent for it.
