Good Site With Pictures To Identify Types Of 2 Cent?

Hey guys I am looking for any good website that displays nice pictures of the different types of 2 cent stamps. I am having so much difficulty! The different colors vs Type 1, 2, 3, 4, 5.... etc I am working out of a 1987 Scott catalog with no color. I also have an identification book but again no color with shoddy drawings of the types. Any help is greatly appreciated as this is the biggest problem I am having argh! Also, it's not just the 2 cent stamp... Any stamp with color variations is throwing me off. Help!

Hi, actually I think black & white (B&W) photos are superior to color photos (as long as the B&W photos are done correctly.

I assume you are talking about the Washington/Franklin Head (WF) U.S. Stamps of 1908-1921. If these are the stamps you want to identify, highly suggest if you are serious obtain a copy of Martin A. Armstrong book "Washington-Franklins 1908-1921". This book has excellent B&W photos, very detailed information, also good background.

I have not found a web site that comes near as good as Martin A. Armstrong's book. Maybe some day there will be a web site better than his book. I've checked all the web sites that deal with the WF and all fall really short of providing the detail you require.

B&W photos are especially useful for red colors WF stamps.

For most hobbyists the quickest way to identify W/F stamps is this tool

Within 3 quick steps you able to ID the majority of W/F stamps. For more experienced hobbyists the Armstrong book is indeed a fine reference.
