Not a selection of covers, but a series of cigarette cards devoted to the Royal Mail, issued by Ogden in 1909. Following the Tobacco War, Ogden was by then a part of Imperial Tobacco, rather than an independent manufacturer. Apologies for the variety of orientation!
Geoff. I only have the "Cleft Stick" Postman in Wills. Where they are now, heaven knows, packed away in a shoebox. (Difficult to display without dedicated album)
The British Empire series, which was issued here by Player around 1904, is a personal favourite. I posted a picture of the skiing Aussie postman from that series elsewhere. Collecting the Aussie issues is a more complex game, as they appeared with three different brand backs - Capstan, Havelock and Vice-Regal.
Despite the fact that the British Museum has the world's great collection of cards, bequeathed by the splendidly named Edward Wharton-Tigar, it's done nothing with them. But the NYPL has an excellent digital resource
