Apparently, to some people at least, some old used stamps equals free groceries for a year or something.

Of all the choices offered by ebay for reporting a listing, misleading description is not one of them.

This person is wasting his ebay listing fees. Zero bids now and there will be zero bids in ten days.

He just dropped his starting bid to $100.00. Maybe he is reading this thread?

I suggested that he lower his starting bid to something closer to the actual retail value. He then asked me what I thought that might be. I explained that they are very common stamps, that these are what one would find in the nickle or 10 cent box at a stamp show. He then asked me why he is seeing these being sold online for hundreds of dollars.
I didn't have the heart to tell him that he could have found these at the dollar a bucket table at the APS show in Richmond 2 weeks ago.

That will sell quickly. The members of ebay approve of appropriate pricing!

The seller is like many sellers. They have no idea the value. The other aspect is that some buyers have no idea about value so sometimes they do get together (make a deal).

FREE listings at their finest. If you have no idea what it is worth, start it a a penny. The market will correct it.

I still cannot comprehend the irrationality of the seller's thinking. To believe that just any 1902 stamp must be worth ten grand is just crazy.

With 2 hours to go, the opening bid on this 50 cents' worth of stamps has been reduced to $25 and the "Buy it Now" price is down to $50.
