375 Double Transfer!

ell, you have the famous and rare red line variety! For the double transfer - the picture is too small and the "overprint" is partially in the way.

I will provide an enlargement of the stamp in question, later.

Question for anyone out there, on my monitor the scan is large and clear, after I post it, does the image get small? I've encountered this problem recently a few times. What do I do to correct this problem, so I do not have to the scanning over again?

It could just as well be over-inking or incomplete plate wiping. I don't see any compelling evidence of a DT and I think it would be physically extremely difficult for double movement of a transfer roller to produce only this effect.

Did you used the optimizer to post your image? You may have been viewing a larger image than you posted.

Check the 'zoom' level set on your browser, make sure it is 100%.

Hi all, here are images, should make it easier to see this outstanding double transfer.

One of the images is a scan in black and white (B&W), for my own purpose, I think any of the Red and so forth colored stamps show plate varieties better in B&W than does a color scan. Just my own thinking, it works better for me.

I've also included enlargements, went as far as I dare, any more and the images would be too out of shape.

I wish there was a way, to reproduce images from my stereo industrial inspection microscope, which if far superior to scanning.

Hope you can clearly see the outstanding double transfer now!

I want to see your DT so bad.....but I still don't see it. Sorry

I see the dots in the vignette that you are pointing to, but I don't know if those are normal for the series. Can you scan a normal stamp to show us the lack of those dots? This is a little like a minor re-entry, but, again, I need to confirm against a normal stamp.

Note: The latest pictures are very good.

The color in the oval surrounding the vignette is evidence of the DT. The oval should be all white.

Hi all, took a break now back on board.

Now you see this outstanding double transfer.

Before I returned to this web site, I made the requested side by side scan.

Guess I do not need to show it now, but will anyway.

As you can see, Red stamps plate varieties show up much better in Black & White.
