Seems to be one of the first Argentine issue, although it looks like it is very bleached out.

Hi all
IMHO - I think that it is a French stamp? It appears to me to be from the A7 - 11 types (Scott #38-48?).It could also be from a type A13-4 (Scott #50-63?) Also, how thick is the stamp? Is it normal stamp thickness? I ask this because there isn't an inscription in the lower tablet & this has me wondering if it is possibly a type of French "Proof" stamp or an 'essay'?
Maybe someone with experience in French stamps can help?

You'd probably get better information if;

1. You cropped your image to eliminate the dead area which would provide more detail.
2. Didn't post it in the United States section.

Bujutsu - No, it's from Corrientes, an Argentinian province, which issued its own stamps between 1856 and 1880. The later issues (like this one) didn't show a value. Obviously easier to copy the French Ceres design than work up a new one!

On a stamp like this you would also get better results if you can post a scan with a black background
