Provisional Ir Handstamp 1898

A new find on a marriage certificate from 1898. Certificate is complete, although I am posting only the bottom half and a close-up of the stamp. Handstamp IR on a postage stamp used in October, 1898 in Michigan, the same state where the listed IR handstamps were from.

Very nice, Ron! Which county is it from? Huron? I can't read it easily and for some reason clicking on the image isn't opening it for me in Firefox. If so, I have two similar marriage certificates with improper usages from the same county:

Michigan sure had a lot of improper usages, comparatively speaking. Distribution of revenue stamps must have been subpar up there:

It definitely looks like Huron to me.

I seem to remember seeing the same one as Ron's go to auction a bunch (6-7) of years ago.

It definitely is Huron County.
