Hi Mate,

I think its just the dark border, It looks pretty normal under the white or lighter part of the envelope.

But scanners or photos can...distort or change colours a bit, and are pretty unreliable.

Cheers

Based on your scan it does not look like a 10 cent blue paper, but it is impossible to say for sure without seeing in person. Additionally it is postmarked two days before the earliest known use of a Scott 364 which is not damning, but not a plus.

It would be nice if this really was a #364 with a new earliest known use date..

Hi, how about a reverse scan.

Does anyone have an idea why this cost 10 cents to mail?

Stampmaster,
Help me out here ... I don't see what a scan of the reverse side would add to our knowledge of the stamp, since it is on cover?
2 cents postage, 8 cents registry fee, see registry cancel at lower left and registry number at top .

Hi, thanks for the reverse scan, you can learn a lot sometimes from a reverse scan.

But in this case, there wasn't anything to learn, but you just never know for sure.

Are my eyes seeing correctly, is a slight bit of the stamp reverse showing. Just saying.

Hi bobone, again.

Since you said "you are seeing correctly, stamp does overlay a bit", to me that would offer a chance to further examine the stamp in question! Have you closely examined the part of the stamp showing on the reverse? How about watermarking it? Held it up to a strong light?

John Becker, perhaps something can be learned, its always good to look at the reverse side of a stamp, or in this case on an envelope. You just never know.

A close up scan of the reverse side with the part of the stamp that is slightly off the cover, may or may not be of value, but at least see what we can see.

Hope you take my suggestion in a positive way, not trying to be difficult, just want to offer a suggestion to help you in your quest of knowledge.

Good luck to all stamp collectors in your stamp collecting adventures.

Hi all again, my brain and one finger typing leaves much to be desired.

I forgot to mention, get a piece of orange paper and lay the envelope face down on it, ensure the part of the stamp that is visible to see what results you get.
