Just curious if anyone really reads these near-novella length ebay lot descriptions?
For example, this item has pages and pages of text.
I guess I'd like to know a little something about what I'm thinking about buying, but I don't want to put my feet up and read about what every square inch of the thing looks like.
I know we all have our own particular "enthusiasms" in life, but introducing religion into a revenue stamp lot description just seems... inappropriate, somehow.
Regarding the original post, I'm really not bothered by the long description. For me, it's not too long ("pages and pages" is hyperbole, I guess), and if I was interested in the item I might even appreciate it. It's certainly far better than the many cursory, incomplete, inaccurate, or even dishonest descriptions that seem to populate ebay these days.
For the one or two people who do finish reading that, they will be so emotionally invested in the item, that they will have to buy it. It can actually be a clever sales tactic, I think, for certain things.
