This card has two Springfield postmarks but almost two weeks apart. Did this card sit at the post office until postage was sent from Lockport, NY?

It appears there might be some markings under the stamp. Would this have been part of the Sep 28 postmark?

The marking under the stamp almost certainly reads "held for postage".

This was because the original stamp fell off? Otherwise it would be marked postage due? Being more accustomed to small post offices, the purple hand stamp seems an unusual auxiliary stamp to me.
Don't know about anyone else but the suspense of what Cora paid a penny to see has me curious. Could you show the other side?

Doubtful the stamp fell off, more likely because it was posted without a stamp.

Here it is. Does seem like a lot of trouble for such a thing.

I guess that would depend on Cora's view. This may be the only way she sees other parts of the world. Nice card. Thanks you.

Thanks for the replies. I'm always fascinated by auxiliary markings.
