I purchased these cheaply. Here is an example of the 20+ items.

I read on a different Stamp Blog that these were used to attach to your hunting license in Australia. If so, I am wondering why they are not listed in the catalogues yet. I guess they are still not postage, by any account, but perhaps Revenue?

"cheaply" is relative, are you willing to share your cost?
Victorian Revenues.

I think it was US$5.00 for the 15 (miscounted earlier). I'll put Australia Victoria Revenues for now.

27 in the full set.
Yours are "remainders", ideally collected cancelled (+85%)

Seen $10 for 3, $50 for 6, $380 for 80 full sheets of stamps (Moss Green)

Mr. Dave Elsmore has them listed, but the commentary confuses me.
See what you think.

Hunting Tax (1973-1982)
From 1973 to 1981, a set of three hunting stamps with values of $2, $3 and $10, each portraying wild animals, was issued. These were replaced by a single numeral $5 value in 1982 and were withdrawn sometime later.

Agree. I have no idea what he is actually saying. Thanks for the information. I'll put them away for now.
