Austrian Postage Due 1920, Michel# and Scott# (!) J93-101.
The Kronen values in this series are listed both on white and greyish paper, however neither Scott or Michel says anything about differences in the paper for the heller values. Still, I believe I have the complete set on both white and what seems to a be yellowish paper . The set on yellowish paper have slightly different shade as well, less red. The same is the case for the perforated set, J75-83.

Can anyone with a more detailed catalog please check - are there any paper differences - or do I simply have complete sets of toned and aged stamps

Thanks for looking, any help appreciated
Jon

Maybe the differences in colour of the paper and shades are more distinct on this picture?

Then it is the perforated heller values.

Seems the paper are similar for these, however it appears the left hand side has a distinct scarlet shade while it's more rosered on the right hand side. Anything listed in the Netto katalog or others?

My 2014/2015 Austria Netto Katalog shows no paper or colour varieties for either the perf or imperf set.
I should have added except for the Kronen values.

I can see differing papers (perhaps) in my collection also.
I have not sought clarification however.

Litho, perfect - so I'll not bother about them for the main set-up in my album, but will still keep a duplicate set of each shade in my 'study' section. Thank you for clarification.

Rod - thanks. I think you have missed the greyish paper differences for the Kronen values?

Edit: ...or probably more correct to say that the good Mr Steiner has not included space for these greyish papers Your 1 1/2 and 20 Kronen are for sure the greyish paper, maybe also the ,5 Kronen. It's much thicker as well, so its straight forward to tell the difference when you examine them.

Jon.
Aware of them, but do not have a specialised catalogue.
I don't recall Steiner discriminating these on his pages.

I think perhaps the French refer to this type as "carton paper" or similar.

Rod - another question occurred to me when looking at your album page - do you prefer these stamps mint or used?
Very nice album page btw - looking quite sharp with almost all mint.

I am curious because the Austrian stamps from this period seems to be much easier to find unused/mint than postally used. I'm a 'postally used lunatic' myself, but I'm struggling to find these with light and readable postmarks. So from my perspective the mint stamps are simply spacefillers until fine postally used comes around....

Jon. I have settled into a well worn routine now, after procrastinating in my early years.

I'll collect preferably Mint (loose term, hinged or otherwise, centreing no issue)
I'll mount in "mounts" if I have not run out.
Prev hinged, I'll sometimes re hinge lightly (like this Austrian page)
Place in mounts later, if/when they arrive.

I then discriminate with readable cancels, and mount them on a personal page.

I do that with all my countries.

Rod, thanks, very interesting to hear how the old timers are thinking. As already said, I prefer that the stamps have done what they were supposed to do - which it seems you are appreciating as well on your personal cancel pages

Here is how the 1920 postage dues page ended up. Annoying that I have loads of some of these stamps, but without a single one of them postally used! The positive side of that is that this page is still not 'completed' in my mind, so still something to look for

Jon, nice page.
I am still at sixes and sevens, with Pmks on "Postage Dues"
firstly, they must be difficult to collect used, there cannot be that many "bad payers"
placing short postage in Austria.
Secondly, could a lot of postmarks on Dues be CTO?

My collecting regime detail.............
