Relative images are indeed helpful but ultimately anyone wanting to become really knowledgeable about stamp colors HAS to build a good reference collection and keep it stored in a way that minimizes the inevitable color changes that occur over time. Hopefully one day the technology to ID colors based strictly upon the ink chemistry will become prevalent and available to hobbyists.
