I'd like to let everyone know that I've launched the new TheStampNut.com website. It is e-commerce functional on both desktop and smartphones, totally encrypted shopping cart and accepting credit card payments via PayPal. High resolution scans with clear descriptions. Please message me with any feedback you may have. I would greatly appreciate your comments. I invite all to take a look. I hope that soon, 1000s of items will be listed.

Hi Don,
Good job. I strongly recommend that you add a privacy policy that describes what you plan on doing with people's personal information when they submit it. You really should not be asking for this without informing folks what you are doing with their info. An easy way is generate this for your site is to check out the privacy policies of other sites and then reword it to suit your needs. Caution! Ideally you would use a lawyer since this legal stuff can get you in hot water if done incorrectly. I would also flush out your terms and conditions to extend beyond just the sales T&Cs. (For example add terms of use of the site.)

It also appears that you have not added any SEO data to your metatags, this is critical if you want to your site to get picked up by the search engines and rank well. There are books written on how to properly do SEO and it is easy to quickly spend thousands of dollars if you pay someone else to do this for you. But you can at least do a handful of thing that shouldn't take you more than a few hours to do that will get you site properly indexed and listed with the search engines.

GoDaddy sucks, sooner or later you will be hunting for a new host. I would rank GoDaddy as the worse hosting service on the planet. I will say the one thing they do well is refund your money when you have issues, so good news is that they are cheap but expect to be on the phone with them often and requesting refunds.

You might want to consider removing your email address. The purpose of having the nice Contact form is so you do not have to list your email address. When you put your email address on a webpage it gets picked up by hundreds of spiders and bots. Your email address is then put on many email lists and sold. Within a month or two after putting your email address on a web page you could see a lot of spam filling your inbox.

You might want to also pay to have your personal information (like your home address) hidden on your domain registration. I don't recall how much GoDaddy charge to hide this but it isn't too expensive.

Consider a banner ad here on SCF or perhaps sponsoring one of the forum categories.

If you would like help with any of this stuff please let me know and I can assist you.
Don

PS - Your name is Don and your wife is Dawn, I bet that makes incoming phone calls interesting. I know because my wife names is also Dawn!

I'm in the process of building my site (globalphilately.com), and everything 51Studebaker says is great advice.

I found a privacy policy and T&C generator online, so that may be worth a try.

The site has been tweaked a few times over the past year including flat rate shipping in the US and any bugs have been fixed. The site is totally encrypted and secure. Currently over 1700 items are listed with multiples but have 1000s to go and it will be a long process, but getting there day by day. I encourage everyone to take a look and as always, your suggestions and input are appreciated.
