I have a notebook of handwritten letters written by some fellow who signed them all with Prince Albert. Just have tried to find any royalty with that name in that time, and didn't find any connection with the contemporary royalty of the world. Also, his letters sounds very unusual... more like that he was some kind of a faker (or possibly some kind of lunatic?).

Letters covers entire year of 1906, and looks that he spent entire year in the USA, in different places, mostly in New England. All letters are addressed to different ladies.

I know that this is not strictly connected to this thread, but, however, this could be some kind of postal history, because all that letters has been sent at some time to some persons... and I know that here on the forum I usually can find some folks who like to investigate in the history. And this surely is a material for investigation... I can, step by step, scan the entire notebook (more than 20 letters) and upload the scans here. All pages are written in ink which faded very much over the years, so the scans are enchanced to be readable here.

Aren't these just drafts of letters, rather than letters?

I suppose that they are not a drafts, because I don't see any crossings and other scribbles, which are usual for a drafts... just a clear writings written in an unusual hand...

I think that the writer used to make a copies of all his letters before he has them mailed... that was a common practice in the past... to make a copy of all letters sent, in a blank journal/ notebook... just as we have a "sent" folder in our e-mails today... to keep a clear evidence what has been written to someone and when.

So, there are no covers (in a philatelic sense)... notebook itself has a cover...

My initial thought is someone who was a few fries short of a Happy Meal was imagining that he was Prince Albert, the famous consort of Queen Victoria and who died at a tragically young age in 1861. Victoria was in mourning for the rest of her life and always wore black because of it and so Prince Albert was indelibly burned into the public psyche for a very long time. There was even a famous brand of tobacco named Prince Albert in America that came out just about at the time these letters were written. Just a guess.

The Hartford Trade School was founded in 1915. The school was renamed after Albert I. Prince when it was moved from 110 Washington St to the 400 Brookfield Street in October 1960. Prince was the managing editor of The Hartford Times newspaper and served as the Chairman of the State Board of Education for 12 years. He's from Connecticut of course so this might be your guy.

@ Kimo - thank you for your reply. I have read his letters, and he doesn't mentioned any other connection with the Prince Albert, Victoria's husband... and in 1906, when Vicotia herself has also been passed aways for years, I think that Prince Albert hasn't been so popular any more. And he is mentioning his father "The King"... father of Prince Albert hasn't be the King. However, this guy who wrote this notebook talk about some other stuff, not strictly connected to the British Royal Family, and, also, he seems to be young.

@ Battlestamps - thank you for your reply. I will check him. However, this "Prince" who wrote this notebook very often insisted on his royal background, father - the king etc. etc. It shouldn't be just connection with the name/surname.

I am a not a native speaker of English, so I can't quality presume is the person who wrote this pages quality in his written English? Or also look to be some kind of foreigner back in that time? Possibly from Africa... I know that in some African states are a lot of kings, princes, princesses etc. Maybe a person who wrote this has been an early version of Nigerian prince" of advance e-mail fee scam being popular 15 or so years ago :)

There's also several other Prince Alberts from other European nations. Belgium being one of them.
