Hi All

I was at our local club meeting just this last week and one of our members had a set of Moroccan fish stamps. I don't collect this country, but, my wife collects fish on stamps, so, I bought them. What bothers me is that there isn't a year on them and I can't find a similar design in the Scott's Catalogue.

I was able to find one of the designs in an online auction and here is the link: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Morocco-45F...AOSwbkJZdWZK

Would any of our members have an idea when these were issued and also if they are worth the price quoted in this auction? Thank you for you help.

Thanks all for your help. I have about 6 or 7 denominations and mine are also in different colours for each one.

The problem is that design is not like any other stamp from Morocco, name of country is wrong and the denomination or currency is wrong .Looks like something over 50 years old when Morocco used a 45F stamp.

I agree with FT,
Usually "Maroc" indicates French Morocco,
Modern Morocco has "Royaume"

They seem dubious.

It wouldn't surprise me at all that they are dubious issues. At least I didn't lay out big $$ to get them. I got 24 of these in all for only $6.00!

I wonder if any of the sites that were given in here actually sell these at their prices quoted?? Would be interesting to see.

Looking in the Scott catalog, it seems that the very first issues of independent Morocco in 1956 were inscribed "MAROC" and that shortly after the monarchy was declared they started using "Royaume Du Maroc". It seems plausible that these designs were intended to be used for stamps to be issued during the first few years of independence.

Hmmm. Interesting take, that makes sense.

Interesting ekbustad. Now I am wondering if they were 'rejected' designs? With a lot of countries, some of those rejected designs can be better looking than the ones that were accepted.
