This cover traveled on the SS Fürst Bismarck, an ocean liner built in 1890 by AG Vulcan for the Hamburg America Line. It was sent from New York City to Annaberg, Germany and it has a Annaberg receiving mark on the back. The 15c stamp shows "Columbus Announcing His Discovery." |

Here is a 1c Columbian stamped envelope "uprated" with a 1c Columbian stamp. It was sent from Louisville, KY in 1896 to a tobcacco company in Richmond, VA. If you would like to have this cover in your collection, just post a message here and I will send it to you for free. |

Very nice covers! You and the other postal history guys are really starting to get me interested in covers and other aspects of collecting. You're definitely going to get me in trouble. |

t360 am I in in time to get this cover I would really like it seeing as how I don't have any Columbians yet in my collection. It would be a double whammy for me, a Columbian and another cool cover for my collection.

15c Columbians are tough to find on cover! This 1894 cover was sent from San Diego, CA to San Francisco. It is not a registered cover and looks like it was grossly overpaid. What kind of insanity is this? Who would use a 15c stamp when a 2c stamp would suffice? A stamp collector or stamp dealer, of course! The cover is addressed to W. Sellshopp, a prominent stamp dealer in San Francisco in 1894. It was probably sent to him by a fellow dealer or a stamp collector as a special favor. |
