Hello, rod222 and anyone who can help me. About the Scott third issue stamps that are questionable, are they actual stamps that were just not issued or are they bogus stamps. I bought three of them a few years back and on the back of the card it says Military Authority 1914. Not rgularly issued for postage.Mine are uncancelled too.
Thanks for the info
David

Hi David
When you say the third issue, do you mean the rifleman stamps?? The are not bogus. Check out my album, here and you will see what is bogus and what is not. http://www.dcstamps.com/dcstamps-al...public-1914/

David, as I read again your post, are you talking about these?

These are called the Ersekė Provisonals, as they are believed to come from the small town of Ersekė.

The history of these is quite spotty. According to John Phipps (an exceptional reference for Albania and Epirus stamps), he mentions a couple of questionable covers which exist which were sent to Stamp dealers, but there is no evidence that the issues were ever authorized by any authority, including any of the government(s) of Autonomous Epirus.

Additionally, he states that Ersekė is such a small town (probably about 200 people at the time), it is doubtful they were ever officially issued.

I hope this helps.
Michael

Thank you very much Rod for bumping this thread. There is a great information here and great scans. Please, let me add from my mythology collection, stamps that were not posted here yet although you mentioned them in the first page when showing the Moschopolis cover sent to France.

Well, Four unofficial issues were produced in 1914. One of them, consists of 15 stamps, was produced in Moschopolis (Now Voskopoje in Albania) for publicity and propaganda purposes. Six stamps of the set show old coins with Greek mythological figures. I posted them all in high resolution and descriptions in the coins thread:

The rest nine of the stamps are all the same design:
