As a young collector I met someone more experienced than me. He was trying to build a collection of the stock transfer stamps, but he refused to put one with a perfin in his album. Several years later he finally gave up on that requirement for the rare denominations. But I fear that for the common stamps cataloging under $25 (yes, dollars) there are many collectors who refuse to put a perfin example in their albums.
