What's going on with this guy?

Is he tripping over some pencils and hoops?

Nope, just an Olympic pole vaulter. (or Olymoic).

Lol.

Is that pole vaulting or high jump?

By the way I love your posts about ebay sellers not having the right descriptions. It is very helpful.

Definitely high jump. Mind you, I would not want to jump over a bar that is clearly welded to the uprights! The lower image is, of course, the accurate rendition, as the Olympic rings comprise three in top row and two in lower row.

The design is of the type produced to test a new photogravure printing press and originated in Darmstadt Germany at the factory of Goebel, the press maker. Its attribution to China by the vendor is possibly correct, although this (and other designs) would have potentially been used at the site of the press purchaser, so could be one of many countries...take your pick. By choosing China, the seller may have increased his chances of a sale! GLENN
