What causes the rainbow effect on the stamps?

Hi Peter, there is no rainbow effect on the cover so I am sure the effect was caused by the way I scanned the image.

When I was very young the prexies were one of two of my favourite stamps, the other being the 1937 KG6 coronation.

To see these prexies on cover is a treat, you've all made my week (and believe me when I say I've had a doozie!)
