Hello everyone.....

If you need an album whitmanbooks.com carries all the H.E.Harris products. For beginning Worldwide collectors my choice would be the Traveler or Statesman albums. The Traveler would be more for a younger person, Statesman for an adult/young adult who is fairly serious about getting started. I had a Statesman that I used for WW material for many years. With yearly up-dated and blank pages many collectors use them for 10 years or more. If you want one strictly for US I'd get a Liberty album. They also carry albums that are strictly for Canadian material.

For mounting.....I see no problem with using hinges for most used material. Anything with a higher value should be mounted with the gummed mounts, just be sure that your mount is large enough for your item.

Thanks for the advice

I've been struggling with what album(s) to invest in. I've decided to make my own Canadian Album and started that one last night. I use 32lb paper that is a bit glossy and of archival quality. I have found a program on line thru ISWSC and print quadruled pages with a border and a header. Canada Post has an archive that shows a image of each stamp printed by date so it has made it easy for me to get organized.

Oh by the way did I mention that I was too cheap to pay the 300 + dollars to buy the album I thought would suit my needs.

When I'm more advanced in my endenvour I'll post a picture on line of a couple of my pages.

Dianne

I think Mystic's Heirloom album is an excellent buy at ~$40.00 US - that is, if you collect US. It is three volumes, with brief descriptions of the stamps on the opposite page. I think Mystic uses it as a loss-leader to get people buying their other products, which have a reputation for higher prices, so I am told.

Charles.

I think you will like it. Judging by your posts and profile, we have similiar collecting interests and styles. I have you earmarked as a potential trading partner once I get myself organized and get to fifty posts. I suspect the latter will happen much sooner than the former.

Just a bit of advice: IMHO whatever Album you choose, take your time doing so and buy the best you can comfortably afford. The album you buy may be with you for 50 years or more. Also, if you can see one in person you will get a better idea of what you're buying.

Hmmmm. Also another comment about albums.

Last year, I went through my huge Citation album and pulled the stamps that caught my fancy. I then bought some of those stock pages that fit in 3-ring binders. Now I have a separate smaller "album" with stamps that interest me now. The nice thing with this system is that I can move stamps back and forth as my interests change.

DE now that you have had your album for awhile how is it working out? I have been looking at this one for a few reasons. My daughter needs one and I will need one for my MNH collection. I have the Liberty and it is ok but I'm not thrilled with it. It is being used for my used US collection.

My mixed album that I bought when I first started is a Victory made by Grossman Stamp Co, NY NY this is an album I like very much.

I use the Ambassador for my foreign stamps.

So let me know what you think of the Mystic album the price just looks too good.

The best quality album, and easiest to use, of all my albums, is White Ace. I use it for my U.S. Air Mail collection.

The Mystic albums are great. I have 2 sets myself. One Heirloom set and one Heritage set. I recommend them highly. As far as the other stuff they sell at Mystic it is overpriced. They do carry some hard to find stuff though. The other albums I have are the first 4 volumes of the Scott International series. A bit pricey but well made. The Citation album by H.E. Harris. It is a HUGE album and hard to use but I got it cheap. I still say the easiest album I use is the Mystic albums. They lay flat and are really stamper friendly.

Hi mkfarm

I love my mystic albums. It is three volumes and as far as I know has images of all the stamps. I found it very easy to use and the descriptions on the opposite page make it easy to Identify the proper stamps for that page. I like the fact that there are only stamps on one side of the page and a bit of history on the other.

I'll go scan a couple of pages be back in a flash

Dianne
