It's me again guys

I've just purchased 300 beautifull stamps from Togo.

Looks like they are mostly theme based (animals, olympics, cars etc...) and very colorfull. So far I've organized my collection mostly in chronological order. I cant seem to find a good listing for these stamps on line. Does the scott's cataloque have a good description of the stamps so I could recognize them?

I'm thinking maybee it's time to invest in some of these catalogues.

Any advice would be appreciated.

Dianne

Hi Dianne,

The 2007 Scott Catalog volume 6 (So-Z) has listings for Togo up to the beginning of 2006.
So you could start by buying just this one volume or using it at your local library.
Here is one on http://cgi.ebay.com/2007-Scott-Cata...OK_W0QQitemZ110225491030QQihZ001QQcategoryZ701QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

Hi Diane,

There IS a catalog online for all nations, but it doesn't have pictures:

www.allworldstamps.com

It's sponsored by Stanley Gibbons.

If you can get close to the actual year of the stamp, you could use this to find out more info. It's a bit klunky to use, but the info is there!

Congratulations on the Togo Stamps. I spent 3 years in Togo several years ago and my wife is from there!! Don't have many stamps though - I'll post a couple of post cards later tonight to give a litlle "ambiance togolaise" to this thread.

You can also buy just the pages for Togo (cut out of the catalog) on http://cgi.ebay.com/Togo-2008-Scott...34_W0QQitemZ120225611165QQihZ002QQcategoryZ692QQcmdZViewItemQQ_trksidZp1713.m153.l1262

IMHO, there are a couple of good ways to organize a group of stamps. If you're putting together a country collection it makes sense to organize them by catalog number. If you are a topical collector, then it makes sense to separate them into topical collections - cats, space, insects, etc.

Thanks everyone.

Just bid on that scott's catalogue(thanks t360) It's time I started accumulating these.

Just so I'm clear they list the stamps from the very first right?

I've pretty well decided to organize my stamps by country so chronologically seems to be the way to go.

Thanks again

Dianne

You could also get a catalog or photocopy some pages. After that just see if you have enough to make sets or enough stamps to make partial sets and work from there.
