Hello, I am just wondering if these are vending stamps. I am fairly certain they are but have never seen them before. Also, the 2 Australian stamps are different sizes. Is this simply due to the large margin at the bottom of the the right hand stamp? Many thanks David

Yes: the difference in size in the Australian stamps is simply due to the second stamp coming from the foot of the booklet pane. The other 5d came from further up in the pane. |

The first labels are "frama" vending machine labels.
Correction
Frama is the name of the Swiss company that make the machines that print and dispense postage labels.
The German labels were produced by machines made by Klüssendorf.
The generic term that I'm used to using for this product is ATM (from Automatenmarken).

Lets see if I understand this. (There is no such thing in the USA as far as I know) You put enough money in for a particular price of your choosing and it spits out a predetermined design of stamp, but with that amount of $, cents (or whatever) printed on the stamp? And if you are lucky it also gives change? Do they charge extra for this service?
OK, Lazy me, it was easy to google "stamp vending machines" and all was explained on Wikipedia. My URL copy/paste failed me again. Sorry.

Hi rod222, I must have been using the wrong key words because I couldn't get anything to come up on the search. I tried vending stamps, vending postage as well as machine postage and machine stamps. I didn't know what else to try because I didn't know what they were. I'm not familiar with a lot of the terminology yet but am learning more every day. Thanks for the links, they are great. David |

Yes, good point David, A lesson to us all when building a thread topic name.
A best shot would be something like "Vending label Frama Klussendorf" |

Rod222, I must admit that on occasions the data base may show no result, a manual search will show a result. Imo posts should have a commonly used description or a Cat' description on subject matter being posted, thereby making search/referencing quick and easy. |

Most ATM labels available today are of inferior quality, on Self-Adhesive paper, almost unsoakable and easily damaged.
I like the Klussendorf Labels both for design and durability of the item. In Israel they are highly prized and more than a little expensive.

Michel lists them and thankfully a good friend of mine who used to collect stamps gave me almost complete sets of the German ATM stamps like the ones shown above and he also gave me some DDR atm? stamps but to complete those sets is more money then I have. If someone wants some photocopies of the Michel listings I could send you photo copies or write you a letter with the info nice and neat. |

I would enjoy that William but with our rules and guidelines here (see button to right) we have to wait til you reach 50 posts and have been here 14 days I think. Otherwise the boiling oil and the rack for me and the Spanish Inquisition, which nobody expects really. |
