Good Morning,

I have a Great Britain 1865-67 6d Plate 5 stamp with a strange watermark. Please help me identify the differences with this stamps watermark. It appears the roses have stems. See pictures below.

Thanks for looking.

It looks like Scott: 45, Wmk.24 (no stems).
There is a paper Wmk.

You can see there are no markings on the back of the stamp that would leave those additions.

Taking pictures of stamps in watermark fluid is not my forte but here are some others.

Bumping this topic. I just picked up a Scott 39 (SG 83), the Plate 3 version ... small letters in corner. The watermark variety is described as Emblems, with normally one printed in each corner. Mine has no known added value, but I thought I would show it as best I could. The preface in my SG catalog says, "Fortuitous absence of watermark from a single stamp, or its gross displacement, would not normally be listed."

Here is the normal Emblem watermark.

I could not get it to scan correctly, so I took the above image and cut/paste so that it shows how mine actually appears. The watermark was grossly displaced such that all of the emblems are in the bottom half of the stamp.

Here is the actual stamp. Enjoy!

Ah, I see - the watermarks are displaced and somehow - from the looks of it - combined - thank you!

I got a better projection system and can now show the watermark variety a little better.

The watermark has a straight line down the side of the stamp as well. Is this normal?

BUMPING this much older topic. I was lucky enough to find another GB stamp with the displaced Heraldic Emblems watermark. This is Scott 37, shown from front in both cases.

Not quite as good as my other stamp, but you should be able to see all of the Heraldic emblems at the bottom (and partial at the top).
