I remember dealing with Kenmore, H.E.Harris and Littleton when younger.
There was a GOBE Stamp Co in Saco, Maine but I think they just put printed slips of paper into a plain glassines.

You made me curious and I looked through a pile of old glassines. The only one I might add is Ideal. No actual company name but the slogan in quotes at the bottom is "IDEAL sets make IDEAL collections"
Littleton as "Littleton Stamp Co." (red) and "Littleton Stamp & Coin Co.,INC." (blue and black)
Never dealt with the companies but get these as stock envelopes often when I buy a collection. I have never particularly paid any attention to them before this. |

I went back to my few keepsakes from when I was in my early teens (circa 1960) and found a few window envelopes/glassines. One was from Kenmore Stamp Co., Milford, New Hampshire. The window envelopes weren't approvals but sold for 10 cents each and contained a small number of country stamps. These were from Grossman Stamp Co., Inc. New York. |
