On November 1, 1970 Singapore issued a set of 3 "Shipping" stamps to highlight the importance of this industry to the island nation's economy. The artwork is drawn in high contrast, graphic fashion. Stanley Gibbons lists the stamps as #s 143-5. The 15c stamp depicts the freighter Neptune Aquamarine. The ship spotting.com website lists the build year as "1969", and the status as "dead". |

On December 17, 1972, Singapore issued another set of 3 "Shipping" stamps (SG #s 185-7), and also a souvenir sheet (SG # MS 188) containing the 3 values. The 15c stamp depicts "Neptune Ruby", Singapore's first domestically built container ship. From the straits times website, " Built by Jurong Shipyard, Neptune Ruby was the first ocean-going vessel built by Singapore. Prior to that, Singapore had only constructed small coastal and patrol vessels." |

This 1.35 GBP British stamp of 2019 is a painting depicting the battleship HMS Dreadnought. Also shown is an earlier British stamp showing Admiral Fisher and HMS Dreadnought. From Wikipedia, " HMS Dreadnought was a Royal Navy battleship that revolutionized naval power. Dreadnought's name and the class of battleships named after her, means 'a fearless person.' Dreadnought's entry into service in 1906 represented such an advance in naval technology that her name came to be associated with a whole generation of battleships, the 'dreadnoughts', as well as the class of ships named after her...Admiral Sir John 'Jacky' Fisher, First Sea Lord of the Board of Admiralty, is credited as the father of the Dreadnought...She was the first capital ship to be powered by steam turbine, making her the fastest battleship in the world at the time of her completion." |
