The 20p value of the Isle of Man's 1993-5 "Ships and Watercraft" definitive series features the paddlewheel steamer Tynwald I, which was launched in 1846. This same design, slightly cropped, was used in 1996 for a smaller booklet stamp of the same value. The period photograph shows Tynwald I berthed at Douglas, Isle of Man.

From Wikipedia, "SS Tynwald (I) was an iron paddle-steamer which served with the Isle of Man Steam Packet Company, and was the first vessel in the Company to bear the name."

This June 17, 1993 set of two stamps (Facit #s1173-4) of Norway commemorates the centenary of the Hurtigruten Express Coaster Line founded by Richard Bernhard With (1846-1930). With was a ship captain and businessman.

From Wikipedia, "In 1891, With took up the idea of establishing a year-round passenger route along the coast of Norway. In 1893 the Parliament of Norway agreed to the government's proposal of funding the route with 70,000 kr. The route Trondheim to Hammerfest would be sailed weekly, and Vesteraalen was the first ship to sail on 2 July 1893."

Vesteraalen is depicted on the 3.50 kr. stamp, and a modern express coaster is shown on the 4.50 value.
