There's a glaring omission that needs to be added!

Scott 117 from the 1869 pictorials. Here's a page from my stockbook ...

Wow! two beautiful minisheets Marius

I hope the first, does not suggest
Colombus had his ships built though.

The Queen gave him permission to secure 3 vessels,
but everybody thought he was barking mad,
the Queen even offered a free pardon to any criminal that may
furnish a vessel.
Finally through the Pinzon Brothers he secured them,
and just had them fitted out for the voyage.

I can't believe you're accumulating U.S. #117 also! There is less than #114 but it's a more valuable stamp. Well that's one amongst the multiple ways of enjoying the hobby and maybe a more profitable one considering those stamps. Daniel

I've not noticed that before,
would the CEPT icon be a set of 4 posthorns?

Timbre,

Have you seen the movie "Conspiracy Theory" with Mel Gibson? Every time he sees a copy of Catcher in the Rye, he has to buy it ...

I'm obsessed with 1869 pictorials.

With the exception of the 24c & 90c values, I have at least 20 copies of each value (I have "only" 6 of the 24 cent value and 2 of the 90c). That being said, I am careful how I bid. I will typically bid on 5-10 lots of 1869s a week; bidding no more than 5% cat value for items with small faults and 10% cat value on sound items. The only exception to that rule is for the items that are actually in my US Album.

It sounds expensive but not as much as you might think. I know people who spend more on alcohol each month than I do on stamps :)

Brian

Us collectors were all obsessed in a way. 1869 pictorials is a nice obsession to me. But I will confess you ignite my curiosity with your accumulation. Me too when i'm shopping I spend allot of the Internet trying to get the most for my $. Thank you for sharing. Daniel

Looking with my magnifier it look like 4 posthorns. I thought I could find a written confirmation in some Europa website I know but nothing about the design. I may ask someone who has a blog on Europa stamps and also a Guinness drinker.
